My involvement with 41a Aandblom began during my second year at university. My engineering lecturer, Vernon Collis, asked me to work on his building site where he was constructing his own house using sustainable principles and recycled material.
I joined the team as a carpenter and general labourer, working on site for a period of 18 months. This hands-on experience, not available at university, has proved to be invaluable for my knowledge of detailing and building construction.
I created all the graphics and 3D visuals shown here for the media interest the project generated and also for the Collis & Associates portfolio.
I have subsequently worked with Collis & Associates on a number of other sustainable housing and community projects.
