Book: Safety, Justice
The design and layout of this 132 page book was commissioned by the Ndifuna Ukwazi. Thebook, "Safety, Justice & People's Power", is an in-depth look into the history, proceedings, testimonies and recommendations put forward by the O'Regan-Pikoli Commission of Inquiry into Policing in Khayelitsha.
The book included cartoons and illustrations by the Trantraal brothers which, combined with photographs and sections of large bold text, made for a colourful and un-intimidating layout. It took what would normally be a dense, complicated and sometimes heavy account and turned it into a something that readers could easily access at many levels of literacy and interest.
The book included maps, information graphics, multi-page comics and a large pull-out poster of the 20 recommendations put forward by the commission.
It was distributed for free by Ndifuna Ukwazi.
